Baked Apple Donuts with a Brown Sugar Glaze

These delicious baked donuts come together easily with pantry staples and fresh grated apple.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 large apple washed and grated

For Brown Sugar Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk

Instructions
 

  • Combine the flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a medium sized bowl. Whisk it all up so that everything is well combined.
  • In a separate bowl combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk and mix.
  • Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well. Then fold in to grated (or shredded) apple.
  • Fill a piping bag or Zip-lock bag with the batter and pipe into a greased donut pan. Or if you don't have that just carefully spoon into the pans.
  • Place the pans on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 12-15 minutes until center is cooked.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Then flip our of the pans onto a cooling rack or parchment lined baking sheet.

For the Brown Sugar Glaze

  • In a small bowl combine the powdered sugar, milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon a nd whisk until the glaze forms.
  • Dip the warm donuts into the glaze and set back onto the parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Let cool and let the glaze set ad harden before serving or storing.
