Cherry Chocolate Chip Cake

This Cherry Chocolate Chip Cake is easy to make with just six ingredients with layers of cherry pie filling, vanilla cake, chocolate chips, and frosting!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 15 oz. Box of Yellow Cake mix or flavor of choice
  • 1 21 oz. Can of Cherry Pie Filling
  • 12 oz. Sprite or flavored soda/sparkling water
  • 2 tbsp butter cut into cubes
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips plus more on top for garnish
  • 1 16 oz. can of vanilla or white frosting

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl combine the yellow cake mix and can of Sprite (or similar).
  • Whisk it up until light and fluffy.
  • Spread the can of cherry pie filling into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Then pour the cake batter over the cherry pie filling.
  • Add the cubed butter on top of that and then sprinkle the chocolate chips over the batter.
  • Bake at 350 degrees according to your package mine was about 28 minutes.
  • Once the cake cools, microwave your can of frosting for about 25 seconds and stir.
  • Pour over the cake and add more chocolate chips.
  • Slice, serve, and enjoy!
