In a large mixing bowl combine the yellow cake mix and can of Sprite (or similar).
Whisk it up until light and fluffy.
Spread the can of cherry pie filling into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Then pour the cake batter over the cherry pie filling.
Add the cubed butter on top of that and then sprinkle the chocolate chips over the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees according to your package mine was about 28 minutes.
Once the cake cools, microwave your can of frosting for about 25 seconds and stir.
Pour over the cake and add more chocolate chips.
Slice, serve, and enjoy!
