We had the chance to receive a 3 month subscription to Baketivity at no cost, but all opinions are 100% my own.
Over the last few months Sofie and I had the chance to bake with Baketivity which is a kids baking kit subscription program. We had three separate boxes delivered to us and Sofie (who is 4) made all of the kits. I wanted to share my honest review with you in case you have any young bakers at home, too.
Sofie has been helping me bake in the kitchen since she was about 2. I let her stand on the tall step, pour ingredients, mix, help me create recipes, and so on! When I had the chance to review this subscription box I knew she would love it.

My Review of Baketivity
Pros:
Pro #1 Cute Themes:
The boxes had a theme. We received one in April which was an Earth Day Theme. Our June one was a Dirt Cake. And our July one was a Lemonade Parfait Cup perfect for Summer.
Pro #2 Easy to Read Instructions:
The pamphlets listed things in color coding and with pictures so Sofie was able to tell me what steps she had to do next. Or what ingredients she needed.
Pro #3 Excitement:
I loved watching Sofie get excited to get mail and open a package just for her.
Pro #4: Helped us be creative
We bake a lot but this kit helped us make new recipes that I normally wouldn’t think of or make.
Cons:
Con #1: Cost
The subscription plans vary slightly depending on how long you sign up for but most are about $30/ month for one box. Which to me seems a bit much to make 1 dessert. We are a budget friendly family where I probably wouldn’t spend the $30 a month for 1 box.
Con #2: Taste
The cookie we made was good. The dirt cake was just okay. But if you do not bake as much as we do, that opinion may be different for you.
Overall review for the Baketivity Baking Kit for Kids
I do like the idea of the subscription box for the kids. They think its fun, and it is a great activity to do together with your children. For me personally, we bake all the time together so it wasn’t anything new just more aimed at the children.
Sofie loved her apron and baking hat she received in the first box and loved the desserts. She was definitely excited that it was something special just for her.
If you can afford the program, then I think it is a great idea and a fun activity for you to do with the kids. They learn about baking and can enjoy the end result of what they made.
Baketivity, NOT GOOD!! I purchased a six month subscription, one box a month, for my seven-year-old granddaughter, and I do. Tried two months, felt it was very inappropriate for the age group. Called to cancel the last four months. As per their own website, they say you can cancel. And evidently you can. But just don’t expect to get a penny back! They tried to tell me that NO subscription service will allow you to get a partial refund on the unused portion. Which is absolute BS. Most will take away a single months cost for each of the months you’ve already used and refund the rest. When I called to talk to them about it, I said we weren’t enjoying it and didn’t enjoy the taste or the amount of time it took to complete each project. They told me that was just my opinion and hung up on me!! I complained on their Facebook group, and they removed my post and banned me. So much for making me a happy customer. I am going through my credit card company to see if I can get my partial refund that way.
Oh no! So sorry you had a bad experience. We only used it for the 3 months as I bake regularly with my kids so didn’t see the need. We did enjoy the boxes that we had (my daughter was 4 at the time and she was able to work through the instructions pretty easily). I just clicked over to their website- it does say they want 100% satisfaction and I would think you shouldn’t have to pay for the remaining boxes. Maybe I can contact them, I will try!
Do they include everything in the kit that you need to be able to make the dessert for that month?
Hi kelly! All of the dry ingredients are pre-measured and included. You may need things such as butter, oil, milk depending on what the recipe is. Hope that helps. Their website shows what the next months recipe will be and shows your shopping list if needed.
