Ingredients Needed for These Halloween Chocolate Brownies

Halloween Brownies Ingredients
🎃 Boxed Brownie Mix – I like using a family-size mix for easy, fudgy brownies, but honestly, any boxed mix works perfectly.

🎃 Eggs, Vegetable Oil, and Water – These bring the batter together and make it rich and moist.

🎃 Mini Chocolate Chips – Fold them in for extra chocolatey bites in every square. Totally optional, but I love them!

🎃 White Frosting – Creamy and smooth, this makes spreading over the cooled brownies a breeze.

🎃 Cream Cheese, Softened – Adds a little tang and richness, making the frosting extra special.

🎃 Red and Yellow Food Coloring – Mix a few drops of each to get a fun, festive orange frosting for Halloween.

🎃 Purple Sprinkles (or other Halloween colors) – The perfect finishing touch to make your brownies festive and fun!

How to Make Decorated Halloween Brownies

Step 1: Make the brownies. Start by making the brownies according to your boxed instructions. For mine, I combined the eggs, vegetable oil, and water in a large mixing bowl and stirred until smooth. Then I added the brownie mix and stirred until everything was blended together. Don’t forget to fold in the mini chocolate chips for some extra chocolatey bites!

Step 2: Bake Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 baking dish and bake at 350°F for about 24–26 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Once baked, let the brownies cool completely before moving on to the frosting—this keeps it from melting.

Step 3: Make the frosting. In a mixing bowl, combine the can of white frosting with the softened cream cheese. Add a few drops of red and yellow food coloring and beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Adjust the color with more drops if you want a brighter, more festive orange.

Step 4: Frost and decorate. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Top with purple sprinkles (or any fun Halloween colors you like) and get creative! Cut into squares or smaller bite-sized pieces, and serve immediately—or refrigerate until you’re ready to enjoy.

Additions & Substitutions

  • Swap boxed mix for your favorite homemade brownie recipe for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • Try different colored frosting for a spooky theme—green or black works great!
  • Add candy eyes, mini candy pumpkins, or Halloween chocolate pieces on top for extra fun.
  • You can also make smaller bite-sized brownies for parties or classroom treats.
