Fun Christmas Gifts for the kitchen

Why oven mitts make perfect holiday surprises

Last year my mother in law gave me something similar to this for Christmas and I just thought it was such a cute idea. Everything in the little set was used and I knew I could make a few of these up for some friends. We all use oven mitts (whether you cook or bake) and you can customize what you put in them to meet your receivers needs!

Types of oven mitts for Christmas gifts

  • Christmas Themed– the Dollar Tree has a ton of matching sets.
  • Neutral for all year– you can get some regular ones from Walmart or anywhere.
  • Funny Sayings- Amazon has some funny oven mitts! I also found a few cute towels that were funny/cute that were a little more personalized for friends.
  • Grilling Oven Mitts– If your friend enjoys grilling outside, grab a Grillin N Chillin one or a high temperature oven mitt. Or some Silicon Smoker gloves!

Personalizing oven mitt gifts for a heartfelt touch

There are tons of ways you could make these more personalized. If you know what your friends colors in their kitchen are- grab those! Favorite Candy or cookie? Add those in. For instance, my girlfriend loves dogs-so I bought a kitchen towel that had puppy paws and a saying about dogs.

You can also make or buy an ornament that has special meaning to them, too! Let’s say they love to cook on their Traeger or Blackstone- grab a grilling ornament and maybe a BBQ rub!

Maybe someone lost a loved one this year…how about a cardinal. Like to go camping? Swoop up a cute camper ornament. Or of course maybe something that your kids made! Get creative.

Personalized Ornaments

DIY oven mitt gift ideas for a personal and budget-friendly option

I am (as many of us are) on a budget this Christmas. So I was having fun at the Dollar Tree for these items. I got everything (except the fun wooden spoons) and the dollar store. So in total these mitts coast me about $7 to make-including the twine and ornament. So I think it’s a cute gift for under $10 bucks!

What You need to make these Christmas Oven Mitts

🎁Oven Mitt– or pot holder.

🎁Kitchen Towel (optional)- or just a kitchen towel work, too.

🎁Cookie, Muffin, or Brownie Mix– whichever one suits your friends/family’s needs.

🎁 Kitchen Utensil -Grab a whisk, wooden spoon, spatula (or a mini combination). Even measuring spoons or cups will work.

🎁 Candy– A little package of kisses, Christmas truffles, Candy Canes, or other favorite flavor.

🎁 Twine– I grabbed the brown twine for the craft section of the Dollar Tree. You can also use a festive color ribbon, too.

🎁 Ornament– Optional but I feel this just brings it all together to make it look a little more gifty. I grabbed a six pack form the dollar store. See above for personalized ideas.

I chose peanut butter cookies mix and chocolate kisses in case my friends wanted to make some peanut butter blossom cookies. Then for my sister in law and friend they eat on the healthier side so I figured some banana and berry muffin mixes were appropriate.

Creative ways to present oven mitt Christmas gifts

I just put everything together and connected them with the twine and added the ornament on top tied into the twine. If your oven bit or pot holder has a slit in it, you can put the baking mix inside of that pouch, too!

These are great for men or women, bakers or cooks! So just grab somethings to personalize a bit and get creative! Here is how I packaged up a BBQ one!
