Smoked Chex Mix Feature

A few weeks back, I had made some sweet Chex mix for the holidays. It was a tasty treat but I had tons of ingredients left over and figured I would try my hand at a some Chex mix on a pellet grill! This party snack mix would make a great thing to take to watch the Super Bowl or for when you have friends and family over any time of the year. I used things we like to eat, but feel free to customize it as well!

Ingredients for Smoked Chex Mix

Cheddar Bacon Chex Mix Ingredients in Bowl
  • Corn, Rice & Wheat Chex Cereal– I used the classic combination for texture, colors, and taste. But go ahead and use more of 1 or none of another…whatever you like!
  • Cheddar Bacon Flavored Cheez-its– I saw these and knew it was the perfect addition to my smoked Chex mix. Regular would work as well.
  • Flavor Blasted or Regular Goldfish Crackers– My kids always have a bag of these around and we love them, too. So I tossed them is as well.
  • Pretzels– Thin pretzel sticks are great!
  • Peanuts– Or another nut for some crunch.
  • Butter– This helps toss everything together and bake the seasonings onto the mix.
  • Worcestershire Sauce– I guess this is a classic taste of Chex mix so used just a little bit.
  • Spicy BBQ Rub or All Purpose– I used Honey Hog Hot by Meat Church

How to make Chex Mix

Making Chex mix is actually really easy to make. Basically all you have to do is combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl.

Then toss it all around to combine. I used a spatula, then just my hands to make sure it was well coated. Then pour onto a large sheet pan or aluminum pan.

How long to smoke Chex mix

To be honest I was filming a recipe video while making this, so got a little distracted…so I didn’t catch an exact time. But smoke the Chex mix for about 1 hour 20-30 minutes. Halfway through, give it a little stir/toss.

Pull it off, let cool, then store in an air-tight container or Zip-lock bags. Enjoy!
