Festive food ideas for your easter party

Easter Games for the Family

Of course the most classic game is a traditional Easter Egg hunt. This generally keeps the kids entertained for you know a whole 25 minutes…. but if you feel like changing things up and putting a little more effort in- check out these creative game ideas below!

Backyard Easter games with kids

Carrot Scavenger Hunt

This is great because the children first have to make there items before they can hide them. You will need Orange Construction paper, green construction paper, plastic eggs, change, candy, small prizes, scissors and glue.

Depending on the amount of children playing, cut out around 3-4 carrots per kid. Cut out the carrot shape from the orange construction paper and the carrot top with the green. Glue the top onto the carrot. You will need to have a plastic egg for each carrot that is made here.

Now the adults takes all the finished carrots and places them or plants them all over the house, when the children are not looking.

Adults fill the plastic eggs with different items and place them in a bowl.

Send the children out to find all the carrots. Let them exchange the carrots for an egg at the end of the game, and they get to keep the eggs and the prizes.

Hop Athon Game

Looking for a game that will wear your children out? Then this is the game to play.

Choose at least three landmarks in your back/front yard. Make sure they are all a little distance from one another. Choose things like the garage door or a tree.

You can either have the kids team up, or let them go by their self. Have them all line up at the same mark.

Have the kids run to the first mark, then hop to the second mark and then jump to the third mark. Then have them skip all the way back to the starting line. Here they either tag their team mate or they won, depending on how you played the game. Offer the winner a special prize.

Pin the Egg in the Basket

You will need: construction paper for each child, scissors, markers or crayons, pen, blindfold, tape and a large picture of an Easter basket.

Start by having each child draw and cut out an Easter egg. Let them decorate it by drawing and coloring on it. Write their name on the front. Add a piece of tape to the back.

You may want to draw a circle in the middle of the basket this way there are no arguments.

Blindfold the player, give them their egg, spin them around and let them try and get the egg in the basket. Who ever is the closest wins a small prize.

Easter eggs in grass

Math egg hunt

I always love games that involve education while the children have no clue to it.

You will need plastic eggs. I always try and get around 4 per child. Candy and change to fill the eggs, marker and one prize. I usually but some egg chalk or something like that.

Fill the eggs with the candy and change and then write a number on it. Depending on the age group is how high you write the number. Hide the eggs.

Let the children run around finding the eggs. Tell them they can only find 4 eggs per person. Once everyone has found there amount of eggs, have them sit down and add up their point value. The person with the most points, wins the prize. They then all get to keep their eggs and the stuff inside them.

Jelly bean toss

You will need a few bags of assorted colored jelly beans, large construction paper, marker and a prize.

Draw a three ring bulls eye on the construction paper. Give each child 3 jelly beans. We always give the children their own color, this way there is no confusion.

Have the children take turns throwing their jelly beans. Who ever comes closet to the bulls eye, wins a prize.

silly easter bunny games

Egg Bowling

Plain Hard boiled eggs. One for each kid and then a few extra. Dye and other decorating items.

Let the children each decorate one egg. This will be their bowling “ball”. Parents sit down and roll one white egg down a few feet. Have the children roll their egg and see who can get the closest with out hitting it. That player wins a small prize. You could also have them play in teams or try elimination mode. Have two kids role their eggs at the same time. The player farthest away is out and the champion must go against another person. Who ever wins out of everyone gets a prize.

Colored Eggs

This is a good game to get the kids to run off some energy at Easter. One person is the wolf, one person is Mother Hen and the rest are eggs. The person who is the Mother Hen (or Easter Rabbit if you want to make it more Easter-themed) will whisper a color into the ear of each child, who is an egg, and he will have to remember it.

Each player should be given a different color. Then the person who is the wolf will visit Mother Hen and say he is interested in her eggs. She will say, “Which color? ” The wolf names one color at a time, if he names the color of one of the eggs, then that ‘egg’ has to run to a chosen spot and back to the Mother Hen without being tagged. If the egg is tagged, he becomes the Wolf and the other child becomes an egg. If the egg is not tagged, he gets to go back and get a new color from Mother Hen.

egg on spoon game

The Egg and Spoon Race

This classic game works on kids’ motor skills. Boil some eggs ahead of time and then give each child an egg and a spoon. Mark off an area for them to race along and have them try to get to the finish line without dropping their egg. If a child drops his egg, he just has to pick it up and put it back on the spoon and keep racing. You can announce a winner for the first one to cross the line and for the person who was able to get across the line without ever dropping the egg.

Egg Toss

Here is another game you can do with boiled eggs. Have the kids get into pairs and then see how long they can toss the egg back and forth without dropping it. To make it more difficult, after each toss you can have the kids step back a few steps each time so that the distance increases.

Where is the Baby Chick?

Get some construction paper in a variety of colors and cut out identical egg shapes in each of them. Have at least six egg cutouts in different colors. Then on a yellow piece of paper draw a little chick or you could also use brown paper and make an Easter Bunny.

Lay the eggs on the table and then hide the chick under one of them, make sure that all the kids have their eyes closed. Then have each child take a turn guessing which colored egg the chick is hiding behind. You can also have the kids play this game with each other once they learn it.

cute easter bunny for Easter Party Games

Pin the Fluffy Tail on the Easter Bunny

This is a riff off the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey game. Draw a picture of an Easter Bunny without a fluffy tail on big poster paper. Then make fluffy tails using white construction paper and glue on some cotton. If you want, you can have the kids put on their own cotton on to their tails and write their names on it ahead of time.

Put tape on the back of the tails or a pin or tack through it. Post the bunny up on the wall. Then blindfold each child and get him to walk toward the poster and put the tail on the Easter Bunny. The person who gets the tail closest to the right spot wins.
