To be honest, I don’t think I have ever made traditional banana pudding. I’ve definitely eaten and enjoyed it…So I wanted to try some and had some extra fruit at the house and my daughter always wants me to make American Flag desserts for the 4th of July. So here we are, we turned banana pudding into a patriotic pudding that is loaded with summer berries! It was delicious and a good way to get your fruit in HAHA!
Ingredients Needed for this Red White and Blue Banana Pudding
🍌Banana Instant Pudding– You can use vanilla or even cheesecake flavor but I went with banana! 🍌 Milk- I just use 2% because that is what we use. Whole milk will make a good pudding, too! 🍌Cream Cheese- Just a block of regular cream cheese goes into the pudding mixture to help create texture and flavor! 🍌Sweetened Condensed Milk- Oh this sweet goodness adds all the sugar and sweetened needed in the dish. 🍌 Whipped Topping- You need the large container or 2 regular ones. 🍌Vanilla Wafer Cookies– Grab a box of Nilla wafers, or I always grab store brand because I am cheap and they taste just as good. 🍌 Bananas- I used about 5 large bananas for this recipe. 🍌Strawberries- Slices them thin to help make the red stripes in the flag. 🍌Blueberries- A handful or more to help make the blue section of the flag. |

How to make this Summer Berry Banana Pudding Recipe
Step 1: Make pudding. In a large mixing bowl combine the cold milk and banana pudding mix. You can use a mixer or just whisk until thickened.
Step 2: Make sweet cream cheese mixture. In a separate bowl beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and mix in the sweetened condensed milk.
Step 3: Combine. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and beat until combined.

Step 4: Start layering. In your 9×13 baking dish, lay out a layer of vanilla wafer cookies on the bottom of the dish. Add 1/2 of the pudding mixture on top of the cookies.
Step 5: Add bananas.Next add 1/2 the banana slices over the pudding mixture. Then top with half of the container of whipped topping.
Step 6: Repeat layers. Add one more layer of cookies, followed by the pudding mixture, then the bananas, and then finish with the rest of the whipped topping.
Step 7: American Flag. Next assemble the flag by placing the blueberries in the top left corner of the dessert. Then add the sliced strawberries in rows to resemble the American Flag. Or just sprinkle the fruit on top.

This dessert will be full right to the top so gently cover with plastic wrap or a piece of parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours before serving.

Storage
This dessert is best covered and refrigerated up to 3 days. After that the bananas start to turn and the pudding/whipped cream start to lose their texture.
