What I love about Smoked Sausage
So this recipe actually uses the pre-package smoked sausage that is already cooked so this is simply a heat and serve recipe that is quick and tasty. I love easy appetizer recipes like this because you can throw it together before your guests arrive and place in the refrigerator until ready to warm it up.
Then you can just leave it on the smoker and snack if you are hanging out outside, too! Just toss some tooth picks next to the smoker and let your guests snack as you mingle.
Why we love making Traeger Appetizers
Using the Traeger to make every part of your meal is so much fun! We love snacks like smoked queso, Traeger side dishes like my shells n cheese, and even smoked cheesecake! You don’t have to fire up the oven you can everything rocking and rolling all at once outside! So these are a perfect Summer appetizer (or if you are like us- all year long).
What you need for this Orange Marmalade & Bourbon Smoked Sausage Appetizer
- Full cooked smoked sausage
- Orange Marmalade
- Bourbon or whiskey
- Onion
- Garlic
- Worchestire Sauce
- All purpose BBQ Rub
Cooking with Bourbon
My husband loves bourbon (Hence his Aged to Perfection Milestone Birthday) so I used whatever his flavor of the month was but you can also use whiskey if you have it on hand. Since this sausage recipe is just warming up in the sauce the bourbon gives it tons of flavor and pairs well with the orange marmalade!

First slice up the smoked sausage and chop up the onion and garlic. Then add all of the other ingredients into a large mixing bowl and toss to combine. Add to your pan of choice. I used two small cast iron pan but 1 large would work or even aluminum pans.
How long to smoke this Traeger Appetizer
Place the pan(s) directly on the grill grates and let smoke at 225 degrees F for about 1 hour 30 minutes or until ready to serve.

Yes! Follow all of the same steps and bake in the oven at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes or until hot throughout.
