My niece Sadie who loves to bake, too had asked me to send her my brownie recipe so she could make brownies from scratch. She loved them and made them again but added chocolate chips and peanut butter….MY GIRL! So that is how these Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Brownies came about and I am in love with them. She is so cute had to add her to the post 🙂

Why make peanut butter & chocolate brownies from scratch?

If you have never made brownies from scratch you are missing out! They are actually super easy to make….and by that I mean they come together in one pot without needing to bust out your mixer or anything! If you aren’t feeling that, of course you can start with a boxed mix as well and then just add the chocolate chips and peanut butter once they are in the pan.

How to Make these Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Brownies from Scratch

First start by melting the butter in a medium pot on the stove. Once melted, remove from heat and add in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Once the wet mixture is well combined, add in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

Continue to mix until all ingredients are combined and batter forms. Then pour into a greased 9×13 pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the batter. Then spoon dollops of the peanut butter over the batter and swirl using a butter knife or spatula.

Brownies before they go in the oven

Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes making sure to not over cook! Let cool completely before cutting and serving. ENJOY!!!

Serve with a glass of milk or MY FAVORITE WAY to enjoy these brownies is later at night warm back up in the microwave with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate syrup!!

How to tell when brownies are done?

Baking brownies are different then cake. You want them to be a little under done. Usually the batter will still giggle slightly in the center of the pan. The edges will look done but the center should still be a little shiny looking.

Can I use different chips and peanut butter for these brownies?

Of course! If you want peanut butter chips would be delicious, dark chocolate, or even caramel! And if you want to use crunchy peanut butter or even a different type of nut butter that would work great!
