Imagine sinking your teeth into tender chicken breasts, loaded with crispy bacon and smothered in melted cheese. Yes it as good as it sounds and easy! This has become a new favorite chicken breast recipe in our home. It reminds me of something you would get at a restaurant hence my “steakhouse” title.

Some of my best recipes come together on nights that I am working out of my pantry. I was on Pinterest and saw some ideas for Alice Springs Chicken from Outback and Chili’s cheesy bacon bbq chicken. So this is kind of a cross between those recipes. But of course I simplify. I didn’t feel the need to add a brunch of seasonings or mushrooms or anything like that. This chicken recipe came out juicy and flavorful. And we had leftover chopped bacon that we made for a pan of smoked Mac and cheese. So it was perfect!
Ingredients Needed for this Steakhouse Cheesy Bacon Chicken

🥓Chicken Breasts- I had a package of 2 large chicken breasts that I sliced into four and slightly pounded them out. Or you can just grab for thin cut chicken breasts. 🥓Honey Mustard Dressing– I had a bottle of Aldi’s store brand since the kids like to dip their chicken nuggets in it. This is used to marinate the chicken and brush on while searing. 🥓Cooked Bacon- I had some leftover but you can easily cook bacon in the oven in 20 minutes or even the air fryer. If you want to save time and money you can even use bacon bits. 🥓Cheddar Cheese– Shedded mild cheddar makes a great choice, but you can use Cold Jack, Monterey or if you like spice….even Pepper Jack would be delicious. 🥓BBQ Sauce– Just a little drizzled on at the end compliments this dish well.. But you can skip it if you want to. My kids like this Sweet Brown Sugar flavor. |

How to make this Cheesy Bacon Chicken Recipe
Step 1: Prepare the chicken. Cut the large chicken breasts in half and pound them down if desired. Or use this chicken breasts. Place in a zip-lock bag and add the honey mustard. Marinate until ready to cook (I recommend at least 20 minutes).

Step 2: Heat up your cast iron skillet or pan. Add the chicken breasts and let cook for a few minutes on each side. I like to use a meat thermometer.
Step 3: Brush with a little more honey mustard.

Step 4: Add chopped bacon and cheese and let cook a few minutes until cheese starts to melt..
Step 5: Add a drizzle of some bbq sauce to each chicken breast. If desired, and add some chopped green onions on top, too. Then serve hot with sides of choice.

Steakhouse Cheesy Bacon Chicken
Equipment
- 1 Cast iron skillet or Sauté pan
Ingredients
- 1 1/2- 2 lbs. boneless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup honey mustard dressing
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2-3/4 cup chopped cooked bacon
- BBQ sauce
- Optional Chopped green onion for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the large chicken breasts in half and pound them down if desired. Or use thin chicken breasts.
- Place in a zip-lock bag and add the honey mustard. Marinate until ready to cook (I recommend at least 20 minutes).
- Heat up your cast iron skillet or pan and add a little olive oil or non stick spray.Add the chicken breasts and let cook for a few minutes on each side. I like to use a meat thermometer. Once the chicken is around 160 degrees F, brush with a little more honey mustard.
- Add chopped bacon and cheese and let cook a few minutes until cheese starts to melt and chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 or is no longer pink.
- Add a drizzle of some bbq sauce to each chicken breast. If desired, and add some chopped green onions on top, too.
- Then serve hot with sides of choice.
