Looking for a new easy Italian sausage pasta recipe? My garden is overflowing with cherry tomatoes this season so I thought I would put them to good use. This Cherry Tomato & Italian Sausage Pasta is so easy to make, loaded with flavor, and great for something new.
I have been on a mission to make sure I am using the produce from the garden this year! A couple weeks ago I made my Canned Bloody Mary Pickles, I have been up to my ears in zucchini (larges ones I may add), and am burnt out on zucchini bread and muffins.
Well- next were the tomatoes. Mike made some fresh salsa last week which put a dent in them but this Cherry Tomato & Italian Sausage Pasta came together quickly for dinner last week to utilize a a few more handfuls. If you don’t have cherry tomatoes, of course you can chop up whatever variety you have but I actually love the cherry tomatoes. They are sweet, juicy, and bursting with flavor.
What I love about this Cherry Tomato & Italian Sausage Pasta
- Utilizes the fresh tomatoes from the garden
- Simple ingredients
- Comes together quickly for an easy weeknight meal
- Flavorful
- Somewhat healthy
How to make this Italian Sausage Pasta Recipe with fresh cherry tomatoes and broccoli
First wash the cherry tomatoes (and slice them in half) and chop up the fresh broccoli into smaller pieces. Then heat up your pan with some olive oil and add the Italian sausage. Cook and break into pieces while cooking. Then drain the majority of the grease (its okay to leave some for the sauce).
Then add in the garlic paste or fresh garlic and the cherry tomatoes. Season with some salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another few minutes.
Next add in the broccoli florets and reduce the heat. Cover the pan and let simmer until the broccoli is cooked to your liking.
Meanwhile cook the pasta according to the package and drain, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water.
Add the cooked pasta and the water to the Italian Sausage mixture. Stir until all is combined. Feel free to add more Olive oil to your liking, too!
Then serve it up with some fresh grated parmesan cheese and enjoy!
Additions & Substitutions:
- I used ground Italian Sausage but you could use Italian sausage links, too then slice them
- Fresh garlic is great just add as much to your liking
- Feel free to toss in some red bell peppers, onions, or other veggies.
- Use whatever noodles you like.
