Ingredients Needed for this homemade Egg Drop Soup Recipe

| 🥚Eggs — large, whisked smooth for silky ribbons in the broth. 🥚Low-sodium chicken broth — the flavorful base, mild enough to let the eggs shine. 🥚Black pepper — to season with a light kick of warmth. 🥚Red pepper flakes — add more or less depending on how spicy you’d like it. 🥚Ginger Powder– I just added a little dash for some extra flavor but if you don’t have it you can’t skip it. 🥚Salt — just enough to balance the flavors. 🥚Green onions — thinly sliced, for a fresh garnish before serving. I like to use these herb scissors! |
How to Make Easy Egg Drop Soup
Step 1: Whisk the eggs. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
Step 2: Prepare the broth. In a large pot, add the chicken broth, black pepper, red pepper flakes, salt, and a dash of ginger powder if desired. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 3: Add the eggs. Once the broth is boiling, slowly pour the whisked eggs into the pot while stirring gently in one direction. The eggs will cook instantly and form light strands throughout the soup.
Step 4: Serve and garnish. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with sliced green onions. Serve warm and enjoy.

How to Reheat Egg Drop Soup?
Egg drop soup is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm it gently on the stovetop over low heat. Avoid bringing it to a full boil again, as this can change the texture of the eggs.
