These Slow Cooker Hot Pepper Jelly Chicken Wings have the perfect amount of heat and sweet! Wings are one of our favorites when we go out, but the last few years I have been making them more at home. I used the slow cooker then finished them off in the broiler and they were awesome!
Why make chicken wings in the Slow Cooker
I usually just bake the wings, but making wings in the slow cooker allowed the flavors to soak in. Finishing them off in the oven gave the perfect crisp. You can use any type of hot jelly but I used this Merlot Cherry Habanero Jelly recipe from Food Wine Sunshine.
If you have never tried hot pepper jelly before, you are missing out! For years we have enjoyed Mike’s uncle’s Cherry Jalapeno Jelly in our burgers, on pork loin, over cream cheese, and on wings!
We love it so much that I made a raspberry jelly this past summer with some peppers from our garden and it turned out great. So…buy some or make some jelly and enjoy the heat in this easy slow cooker chicken wings recipe!!
What you need for this Hot Pepper Jelly Chicken Wing Recipe
- Raw Chicken Wings
- Honey (regular or hot)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Whole Grain Mustard
- Hot Pepper Jelly
How to make these Hot Pepper Jelly Chicken Wings in the Slow Cooker
First grab a sharp knife and cut the chicken wings at the joints. Trim any unwanted parts/hairs off.
Then spray the slow cooker with non stick spray and then add all the other ingredients!
How long to slow cook chicken wings in the Crock Pot
Cook on low about 3.5 to 4 hours or until internal temp reaches 165 degrees F. You do not want to over cook because then the meat will just fall off of the bones
Then transfer the chicken wings to a foil lined baking sheet and mix remaining jelly with some water or just microwave the jelly for easy brushing. Coat the wings before putting in the oven. Broil for a few minutes until desired crispiness.
Then add some more jelly at the end, too! Enjoy with all of your favorite dipping sauces per usual!
Can I make these Chicken Wings in the oven or Air Fryer?
Of course! Just Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and coat the wings. Then Bake or Air Fry until the wings are at least 165 degrees internal temperature!
