If you are looking for an easy Fall treat, make these Maple Pecan Pumpkin Cupcakes! Spiced cake mix spruced up and topped with homemade maple cream cheese frosting.
These pumpkin cupcakes are super easy and even non-pumpkin lovers will like these cupcakes. My husband ate the majority of these….They are cute for a Fall gatherings, Thanksgiving, or just to make with the kids for fun.
Even if you are not a huge fan of pumpkin, it is great to incorporate into your fall treats and dishes. Pumpkin is loaded with some great benefits 🙂
How to make these Maple Pecan Pumpkin Cupcakes
First, start with a box of Spice Cake Mix (white would be good too).
In a large mixing bowl combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and pumpkin puree. Beat for about 2 minutes until everything is well incorporated.
Then fold in chopped pecans. Spoon batter into lined cupcake pan. This makes a typical 24 batch of cupcakes. Fill 3/4 of the cupcakes liners. Then bake at 350 degrees according to box mix (about 15-18 minutes).

How to make Maple Cream Cheese Frosting
To make homemade cream cheese frosting, start with room temperature butter and cream cheese. Combine the butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and maple syrup in a large bowl.
Use your mixer to mix until powdered sugar is dissloved and frosting is fluffy. Then fill a piping bag or ziplock bag with frosting and pipe onto cupcakes.

Then sprinkle with cinnamon and add pecans on top to decorate!

Maple Pecan Pumpkin Cupcakes
Ingredients
- 1 box spice cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup pure pumpkin
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans optional
For Frosting
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 oz cream cheese room temperature
- 4 tbsp butter room temperature
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- cinnamon
- pecans
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine boxed cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and pumpkin.
- With an electric mix beat until well combined for about 2 minutes.
- Fold in chopped pecans.
- Fill lined cupcake pan with batter about 3/4 full per cup.
- Bake at 350 for about 18 minutes (or according to box).
For frosting:
- In bowl of your electric mixer, combine powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and maple syrup.
- Beat until well combined and powdered sugar in dissolved.
- Fill a piping bag or ziplock bag and pipe onto cupcakes.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and top with more pecans.
