Why I love this Blackstone Tortellini Recipe

I am always on the lookout to create new Blackstone recipe ideas. Especially during the Summer months I really enjoy firing up the flat top versus cooking in the house. I love adding everything that needs to be cooked to one surface versus dirtying a bunch of pans and dishes. This Blackstone sausage and peppers pasta dish comes together with just seven ingredients and in about 15 minutes total, winner!

Ingredients Needed

  • Three Cheese Tortellini– I grabbed the family size in the refrigerated section at Aldi. Or 2 small packs would work. Or use your favorite flavor.
  • Beef Smoked Sausage– I anted to make a lot so we would have leftover’s so I used to 12(oz) links of smoked sausage.
  • Marinara sauce– I just grabbed the cheaper sauce you will be using equal parts red and white sauce. So I did’t use the whole jar of marinara.
  • Alfredo Sauce– Just the cheaper brand works or if you have a favorite. With the combination of the marinara and the other ingredients, any “Store bought” taste is removed.
  • Garlic– love fresh garlic in everything- jarred or garlic powder will work, too.
  • Onion– For a little texture, crunch, and nutritional benefits.
  • Green Pepper– same.

Fire up the flat top to low-medium heat. Drizzle a little cooking oil ( I use grape seed). Then add on the chopped onions, garlic, and green peppers. Let cook for a few minutes until soft and fragrant then add in the sliced smoked sausage.

On the other side of the griddle, add on the tortellini and squirt some water all over them several times as they warm up and cook.

Once the noodles are soft and feeling warmed throughout, combine the sausage and pepper mix with the tortellini. Then pour both the sauces on top. Toss everything to combine and cook until the sauce is hot.

Then serve hot as is or with some Italian cheeses, parmesan, or red pepper flakes.

Additions & Substitutions:

  • Want to use Italian sausage? That would be great!
  • Different flavor of tortellini? Go for it!
  • Want to add some more veggies? You could add spinach, other bell peppers, or even cherry tomatoes.
  • Like mushrooms? I don’t but they would be good here.
