So I myself am not a bourbon fan, but my husband is so we always have a few bottles up on the shelf. Well a few week back we had a cooler day and decided to warm up some cider I had and add a splash… I decided it was good enough to share. The caramel flavors of the bourbon pair perfectly with the hot cider (and you know what better than to add a drizzle of caramel sauce on top to finish it off!)
Ingredients Needed for this Hot Caramel Bourbon Apple Cider

🥃 Apple Cider – the warm and cozy base for the drink! Of course best from the apple orchard but there are a few brands of juice like Simply Apple that would work, too! 🥃Bourbon – adds smooth depth. You may want to use a cheaper brand since you are mixing with cider but- use your preference here. 🥃Whipped Cream Topping– for a creamy topping. 🥃Cinnamon – just a pinch for warmth. 🥃 Caramel Sauce/Drizzle – the perfect sweet finishing touch! |
How to Make Hot Caramel Bourbon Apple Cider
Step 1: Heat the cider. Warm the apple cider quickly in the microwave or on the stove until hot. If you want you can jazz it up by tossing in some cinnamon sticks in the process.
Step 2: Add the bourbon. Pour the bourbon into your favorite mug or heat-safe glass.

Step 3: Combine. Carefully fill the rest of the mug with the hot apple cider.
Step 4: Top and serve. Add a swirl of whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a drizzle of caramel. Serve warm and enjoy!

Additions & Substitutions:
- Prefer a different liquor? I also like these with Caramel Flavored Vodka or Spiced Rum!

- Heat the apple cider in microwave or on the stove top until hot.
- In your favorite mug or heat safe glass, add in the bourbon.
- Fill the rest of the way with the hot cider.
- Top with whipped cream, a little cinnamon, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
- Sip slowly and enjoy!
- Add the half gallon or gallon of the apple cider to a pot on the stove top or in the slow cooker. Then ladle the hot cider into mugs and make the rest of the drink when ready to serve. Alternatively, you can add the bourbon to the cider mixture while heating as well.
