Looking for a new favorite weeknight meal that cooks to perfection in the slow cooker? These Slow Cooker Pub Style Sandwiches are a new favorite in our house. Tender juicy beef that shreds effortlessly with onions, jalapenos, cheese on your favorite buns! YES!

If you are in search of some slow cooker chuck roast recipes, this one is right for you! We had the buy one get one free chuck roast sale going on at our local grocery store. One we made a slow cooker pot roast, and then the other these Slow Cooker Pub Style Sandwiches. These do not disappoint! Now that we have our second child, we definitely do not get to go out to dinner for our favorites. Our local pub makes a sandwich similar to this that I always crave so I wanted to create it at home.

These shredded beef sandwiches in the slow cooker were so easy to make, assemble, and enjoy (with a beer I may add). The leftovers are great to make up and pack for lunches, too. Mike was happy for a couple days that he had some beef sandwiches in his lunchbox.

What you need for these Slow Cooker Pub Style Sandwiches

  • Chuck Roast
  • Jalapenos
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Seasonings
  • Beer
  • Liquid Steak Seasoning (we love Dale’s ) ( or even Worcestershire or soy sauce)
  • Butter
  • Buns
  • Cheese

How to Cook Chuck Roast in the Slow Cooker

What is great about cooking chuck roast in the slow cooker or your crock pot is that basically you are tossing the ingredients in, setting it, and forgetting it. The meat, your veggies, and some liquid all go in together and the meat is usually fork tender by 7-8 hours. So perfect for the people who work all day and want something ready when they get home. And really that is about all I use my slow cooker for. Meals that don’t require too many additional steps. I did toast the shredded beef sandwiches afterwards in our digital air fryer oven, but you don’t have to.

How to make these Pub Style Shredded Beef Sandwiches in the Slow Cooker

First start by spraying your slow cooker with some non stick spray (you don’t have to but always helps prevent burning on the edges). Then place the chuck roast in the pot.

Next add in your sliced jalapenos, garlic, and sliced onions. Sprinkle in the ancho chile pepper, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and pepper. Pour in the beer and water and add the butter on top.

Set the slow cooker to “low” for 7 hours. Once done, shred the beef ( I use some handy meat claws).

How to make the beef sandwich

Add the meat into your favorite bun or hoagie roll, top with some of the cooked jalapenos and onions. Add some white cheese and more fresh jalapenos (if desired). And Enjoy! Like I said, I toasted ours to make it more pub style. Then dip into more of the delicious sauce that it cooked in. BOOM DONE!!! ENJOY. Store the rest in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Can you freeze this recipe?

Sure! Want to have shredded beef ready to go for other busy nights? Then just place the shredded beef mixtures (in the liquids) into freezer safe containers or even zip lock bags. Then defrost and heat up when ready to eat.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 2.5 lb chuck roast
  • 1-2 jalapenos chopped
  • 1/2 large onion sliced
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ancho chile powder or regular
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup beer or choice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp Liquid Steak Seasoning or Worchester or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • Buns or Hoagie rolls
  • White Cheese of choice we used white cheddar

Instructions
 

  • Place the chuck roast in a sprayed slow cooker.
  • Next add in your jalapenos, garlic, and sliced onions.
  • Sprinkle in the ancho chile pepper, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and pepper.
  • Pour in the beer and water and add the butter on top.
  • Set the slow cooker to "low" for 7 hours.
  • Once done, shred the beef. A
  • Add the meat into your favorite bun or hoagie roll, top with some of the cooked peppers and onions. Add some cheese and more jalapenos (if desired).
  • Serve with additional juices from the pot for dipping and enjoy.

Notes

Note: toast the entire sandwich in oven, air fryer, or toaster oven.
