It’s a quick one too, about 25 minute from start to finish, and dinner is on the table. The Blackstone or your flat top does most of the work here, and everything cooks up together in that fun, sizzly way that makes griddle meals so good.

Ingredients Needed for This Blackstone Texas Toast Philly Cheesesteaks Recipe

🥩 Shaved Steak – The base of it all. It cooks fast and soaks up all the flavor right on the griddle. You can easily find this in most grocery stores.

🥩 Red Bell Pepper – Adds a little color and sweetness while everything cooks together.

🥩 Red Onion – Classic cheesesteak flavor that blends right in.

🥩 Cheesesteak Seasoning – Use whatever blend you like or keep it simple with basics from your spice cabinet.

🥩 Worcestershire Sauce – Just a splash for extra flavor while it marinates.

🥩 Beer – Helps everything come together while it sits. Nothing fancy needed.

🥩 Frozen Texas Toast – Gets crispy right on the Blackstone and makes the perfect base.

🥩 Provolone Cheese – Melts right in and makes everything extra good.

How to Make Blackstone Texas Toast Philly Cheesesteaks

Step 1: Prep the Ingredients. Start by dicing up the bell pepper and red onion into small pieces. Add them right into a large bowl with the shaved steak so everything is ready to go. I like to dice them small so that they cook faster while cooking set steak.

Step 2: Marinate the Steak. Sprinkle in your cheesesteak seasoning, then pour in the Worcestershire sauce and beer. Give it all a good mix so everything is coated, then let it sit while your griddle heats up.

Step 3: Cook the Steak and Veggies. Get your flat top grill going over low-medium heat and lightly oil it if needed. Add the steak and veggie mix to one side and cook it up, stirring now and then, until the steak is done and the peppers and onions are nice and tender.

Step 4: Toast the Bread. On the other side of the griddle, lay down the frozen Texas toast. Flip it after a few minutes and cook until both sides are golden and crispy.

Step 5: Add the Cheese. Once the steak is cooked, add the provolone cheese right on top and mix it in until everything is melty and combined.

Step 6: Assemble the Cheesesteaks. Scoop the cheesy steak mixture onto each slice of Texas toast. If you want extra cheese (and honestly, why not?), add a little more on top and let it melt down.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy.

Stove Top Method

No Blackstone? No Problem! Just follow the instructions and cook the meat/veggies in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the frozen Texas toast in the oven according to the instructions (or even in the Air Fryer). Then add the meat mixture to the toasts, top with cheese, and pop back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.

Additions & Substitutions

  • Swap provolone for mozzarella or white American cheese if that’s what you have.
  • Mushrooms are a great add-in if you want a little extra going on.
  • Green bell peppers work just fine instead of red.
  • Hoagie rolls can totally replace the Texas toast if you want a more classic sandwich feel.
  • And this works really well with thinly sliced ribeye too if you’re into recipes for shaved steak.
