March is around the corner and I love sharing some Irish recipes with you! You may have been to a pub and seen these so I knew that these Air Fryer Irish Nachos would be something my husband and I would enjoy on what I call our “bar food Friday’s”. Layers of crispy potatoes, cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and toppings of choice make these a great snack, party appetizer, or easy dinner!
We had some our homemade smoked bacon defrosted and a bag of potatoes which inspired me. I have also made them with bacon bits, too. Air Fryer potatoes are a favorite at our house anyways and we generally have cheese and jalapenos. So I decided to whip up this Irish Nachos recipe!
So whether you are looking for a quick snack or St. Patrick’s Day recipes, let these easy Irish Nachos get added to your menu! These Irish potatoes are one of the best air fryer recipes I have made in a while, so I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
What I love about this Irish Nachos Recipe
- Made with simple ingredients
- They come together quickly in the Air Fryer (or you can make them in the oven)
- Good for the entire family
- Hearty
- Budget Friendly
I love air fryer recipes because they generally come together quickly and are great for recipes like. Using the air fryer also is great for Summer time when you don’t want to turn on the oven. We have a Ninja Digital Air Fryer Oven that flips up when you aren’t using so it is always on our counter ready to used (minus the amount of stuff that needs to get moved in order to use it…LOL)
Why Cook Potatoes in the Air Fryer
If you haven’t cooked potatoes in the Air Fryer you are missing out. They cook faster and will crisp up almost as if you are frying them in a deep fryer at a bar. All the crispiness with less fat!
What are Irish recipes?
If you try to search for Traditional Irish recipes, you probably get the same few things. Irish stew, things made with Bailey’s, oatmeal recipes, and shepherd’s pie. Well the Irish tend to cook with things that are prominent on their land. So yes Irish dishes will have lots of potatoes, oats, lamb, etc. Although I have yet to visit Ireland, I do enjoy some delicious Irish Pub food…So what better way to celebrate the Irish culture by whipping up an “Irish version” of nachos!
How to Cook Potatoes in Air Fryer
The first step in these Air Fryer Irish Nachos is to cook the potatoes in the Air Fryer. Wash and slice the potatoes. Spray or toss them with some olive, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to your liking. Lay the potatoes slices on the air fryer pan or tray. Depending on the size of your Air Fryer you may have to do this in batches.
Then set the Air Fryer to 400 degrees F and cook for about 15-20 minutes flipping half way. The time may vary depending on your Air Fryer/ thickness of your slices.
How to assemble the Irish Nachos
Once the potatoes are fork tender on the inside but crip to your liking on the outside go ahead and sprinkle as much cheese as you would like, and the cooked bacon (or bacon bits), and jalapenos if you like them cooked. Pop the tray back in the Air Fryer and cook for a few minutes longer until the cheese is melted.
Irish Nacho Toppings
Of course you can customize your toppings with what your family likes. We like a lot of sour cream, green onions, and chopped tomatoes (or even pico de gallo). Like it spicier? Add some hot sauce! Red onions…yes! ENJOY!
How to make Irish Nachos in the Oven
For this recipe you will follow the same steps as above. Heat the oven to 450 degrees F. Then bake the sliced and seasoned potatoes for about 15-18 minutes, or until tender. Add the cheese and bacon and return to the oven under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes.
